Hill of the Muses

Recommended
This hill (147m high) was consecrated to the Muses in Ancient times. It is dominated by the Philopappu Monument (AD 114-116), which was built in memory of a benefactor of Athens. On the way up you will see several troglodytic dwellings, one of which was identified as Socrates' prison. Fine views of the Acropolis, particularly at sundown.
