Seen from the deep harbour, Thira, capital of the island of Santorini, perches on top of a vertiginous cliff which you reach by neverending steps or the cable car, which affords spectacular views. Built in the 18C, the town, with its Orthodox and Catholic areas, should not be missed. In particular, it offers cafés, discos, restaurants and shops, not forgetting the Prehistoric Museum, where the famous Akrotiri frescoes are exhibited.
