The Essential
Tucked away amid thick forest cover, Pelion's largest village used to be an important centre for the Hellenic cultural renaissance that took place during the Ottoman era, as well as an active crafts centre. Today, the surrounding orchards provide the main source of income. Of the various churches, it is worth having a look at Agios Georgios, which contains a huge iconostasis made of finely carved wood, and Agia Kiriaki.
