Budapest Museum of Fine Arts

Highly recommended
The Fine Arts Museum occupies a colossal neo-Classical building fronted by a portico with eight Corinthian columns of Greek inspiration. In the basement, the department of Egyptian antiquities showcases pieces illustrating the different eras of ancient Egypt, as well as 20C collections and contemporary art. Greek and Roman antiquities are displayed on the ground floor. However, it is the first and second floors which are home to the museum's masterpieces, reflecting the great European Schools from the 13C to the 19C.
