The development of Cobh (pronounced "Cove") began in the late 18C when the port of Cork became the home port for English ships deployed in the American War of Independence, and later in the battles against France. But Cobh was first and foremost where hundreds of thousands of emigrants embarked on their voyage to America, and the Titanic's last port of call before its fateful crossing. Take time to walk along the quays and admire the fine houses, and the very British architecture of the buildings.
