Set on the Argideen estuary, this village is dominated by a ruined Franciscan friary, founded in the 13C and plundered by Oliver Cromwell in 1642. On the other side of the village lie Timoleague Castle Gardens (not open to the public), which are home to a small Anglican chapel entirely decorated with colourful mosaics and friezes.
