Donegal Castle

The stronghold which stands on a bluff on the south bank of the River Eske was almost completely destroyed by Red Hugh O'Donnell to prevent it from falling into English hands. Its remains were incorporated into the manor which Sir Basil Brooke had built in the courtyard. He also ordered the construction of a gatehouse. Two scale models provide an insight into these edifices.
