The imposing Anglican cathedral of the diocese of Dublin is the seat of the Anglican archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough. The first edifice was built in 1172, on the site of a wooden church dating from 1038 but that had disappeared. The current building with its combination of Romanesque and Early English Gothic styles can be dated 1871-78, although the north wall of the nave comes from the original cathedral.
