Galway is very popular with visitors thanks to its pubs, restaurants and lively, colourful streets. The university attracts a young and cosmopolitan crowd, as do the town's high-tech industries, which add to the bustling atmosphere of the port. On fine days, the town takes on an almost Mediterranean feel with its outdoor cafes, strolling crowds and street musicians. The gateway to Connemara and one of the most important towns in the country's gaeltacht, Galway is an important centre for traditional Gaelic culture.
