Dún Aengus (Dún Aonghasa)
On the isle of Inishmore, a footpath climbs up the hill to the edge of the cliffs, where there is a fort: Dún Aengus. Composed of a triple line of walls over 5m thick, it is coupled with stone stakes planted in the ground at an angle to ward off attackers and slow their advance.
