Museo Archeologico Nazionale Dinu Adamesteanu

Incredibly comprehensive, this museum offers the most complete overview of the history of the Basilicata region from the Iron Age (9C BC) to the end of Roman domination (5C AD). The collections reveal some gems: the treasure of the tomb of a little princess (5C BC); the polos, a vermeil crown that belonged to a Greek priestess in the late 6C BC; and, of course, the prometopidion, the extraordinary gilt bronze mask (5C BC), the emblem of the museum.
