Brescia Castle

This castle was built above the ruins of a Roman temple by the Visconti family in 1343; the central keep, crenellated walls and tower all date from this period, while the bastions and monumental entrance gate with a drawbridge were added in the 16C by the Venetians. The castle is now home to the Museo del Risorgimento and the Museo delle armi Luigi Marzoli, which exhibits an interesting collection of arms and armour from the 15C-18C.
