Santa Maria presso San Satiro
Except for the 9C square bell tower and the 1871 facade, the church and the baptistery were both the work of Bramante who solved the problem of lack of space in a classical manner by resorting to trompe-l'oeil golden stucco. The basilica is home to the Saccello di San Satiro, a small shrine of eastern inspiration with a Greek cross and adorned with a 15C Descent from the Cross in polychrome terracotta and fragments of frescoes (9-12C).
