Park of the Villa Royale

This vast English-style landscaped park is home to a rose garden, a small theatre, a chapel, and, to the north, the famous race track on which the Monza Formula 1 Grand Prix is run every year. The park extends behind a grandiose neo-Classical building, which was a favourite holiday residence of the kings of Italy until the tragic assassination of King Umberto I by the anarchist Gaetano Bresci on 20 July 1900 just a few metres from the palace.
