Colossus (Colosso di Eraclio)

Interesting
Very little is known about this 5m-tall bronze statue known as the Colosso - we don't know who the statue represents (Valentian, Theodosius or maybe even a different emperor) or how the statue ended up in Barletta. All we do know is that this mysterious statue dates from the 5C and that its legs were melted down in the 14C to make the bells of Siponto church. The statue was subsequently provided with "new" legs in the 15C.
