The village of Monte Sant'Angelo is a remarkable sight, with its narrow, whitewashed houses, alleyways and flights of steps giving it the appearance of an inland fishing village. Overlooking the Gargano promontory and the sea, the village boasts stunning views and is very popular with tourists. It's worth climbing to the top, from where you descend to the grotto where the Archangel Michael is said to have appeared and commanded the construction of a sanctuary.
