Tonara
The Essential
Renowned for its nougat, Tonara is also known for its carpets (tappeti) and bells (campanacci). The village has some very old schist houses with covered wooden balconies. You will also see the bell tower (17C) of the parish church, San Gabriele, (the rest of the building is more recent,) the fountain of Galusè, Is Forreddus domus de janas and, to the south of the town, the ruins of the church, Chiesa Sant'Anastasia. Tonara is the starting point for the Punta Mungianeddu (1 467m).
