Favignana

Recommended
Sometimes known as the farfalla (butterfly) on account of its shape, Favignana is the largest of the Egadi Islands; it is named after the favonio, a hot, dry wind from North Africa that blows in summer. The island developed thanks to the Florio family, who contributed to the expansion of the tuna industry here. It's worth exploring the capital of the archipelago, Favignana, as well as the island's many small rocky creeks.
