The Essential
Interesting
This small industrial city (where the Buitoni pasta company was founded in 1827) is famous as the birthplace of the artist Piero della Francesca; the town is still home to several of the painter's masterpieces. Behind the ramparts in its historic centre, Sansepolcro has retained many of its Renaissance buildings which testify to its early prosperity and its strategic location in the centre of the Upper Tiber valley.
