Buonconvento

Buonconvento
The Essential
Built entirely of brick, Buonconvento is squeezed within its medieval ramparts. It lies on Via Francigena, the pilgrimage route that linked France to Rome. Via Soccini runs through the village, which boasts a church with a Jesuit-style façade and a Pretorio Palace with an elegant tower not dissimilar to Siena's. In 1313, Emperor Henry VII died here in Buonconvento, which is also home to an interesting museum of sacred art.
