Church of Sant'Alvise

Interesting
This church dedicated to Saint Louis of Anjou (Alvise is the Venetian version of Louis) is well worth a visit for its richly decorated interior, which provides a stark contrast to its rather austere exterior. Also interesting are the fine 15C tempera paintings attributed to pupils of Lazzaro Bastiani (active between 1449 and 1512). The right wall of the axial chapel houses a Calvary by Tiepolo (1749) who also painted the Flagellation and Crown of Thorns.
