Amber Museum

This fine neo-Renaissance country house (19C) in the middle of the botanical park was built for the Tiskevicius family and is now home to an exhibition dedicated to amber. Visitors can learn about the different forms and colours of "Baltic gold" as they walk through the museum's 15 rooms providing an insight into the plants and animals preserved in the resin, the various parts of the world where amber is found, the trade routes involved, and its usage through the ages (crafts, jewellery, medicine). The visit ends with works by contemporary sculptors.
