Flevoland

Interesting
Created in 1986, the province of Flevoland is made up of various polders reclaimed from the Zuiderzee. Its unique characteristic is that the entire province lies below sea level. The Polders Museum in Lelystad is home to a permanent exhibition on the Zuiderzee project, with a large section dedicated to the construction of dykes, the draining of new polders, and the challenges faced by their pioneering inhabitants.
