Brewers' Canal (Brouwersgracht)
This peaceful canal, named for the numerous breweries that worked on its banks in the 17C and 18C, is blessed with picturesque bridges. Today the former warehouses have been beautifully restored and turned into housing. Some are adorned with the city's coat of arms or named after distant towns, memories of the maritime expeditions of local sailors. Near the bridge at the confluence of Brouwersgracht and Prinsengracht, there is fine house with a double stepped gable.
