Jewish Historical Museum (Joods Historich Museum)

Recommended
This museum occupies four synagogues from the 17C and 18C: the Great Synagogue (1671), the Obbene (1685), the Dritt (1700) and the New Synagogue (1752). It tells the story of the Jews in the Netherlands from 1600 to the present day, providing information on community life, business activities, important characters such as the philosopher Spinoza (1632-1677) and the drama of the Second World War. In a side room one of the few surviving examples of a mikwe (used for ritual bathing) can be admired.
