The Kathedrale Basiliek St-Bavo

This massive basilica was built between 1895 and 1906 by Joseph Cuypers in the Neo-Gothic style that was popular at the time. The new cathedral museum (2016) beneath the crypt deciphers the edifice and also houses a rich collection of liturgical objects, mainly gold and silverware (15-20 C). Note the early 16C vestments, which came from a former begijnhof lay convent in the city.
