The Essential
The tranquil municipality of Medemblick is one of the towns that have suffered most from the closing off of the Zuiderzee. Since then it has focused its energies on pleasure boating and nautical competitions and has managed to preserve a number of attractive houses and some of its former charm. Visitors will undoubtedly enjoy its compact town centre and its two main basins. A tourist railway (stoomstram) links the town to Hoorn while a boat service operates between Medemblik and Enkhuizen.
