Great or St James' Church (Grote of St-Jacobskerk)

This large brick church was built around 1450. Today it is used as a venue for trade and cultural events. There is a peal of 51 bells in the tower. The roof of the hall church is depicted by a timber vault. In the choir, c. 1500, can be seen an admiral's tomb and the coats of arms of knights of the Golden Fleece. There are some remarkable stained-glass windows in the ambulatory, one of which shows a kneeling Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor.
