IJzendijke
The Essential
All that remains of the ramparts of this old fortified town is a small half-moon bastion or ravelin, covered in earth and surrounded by water. A pretty windmill stands near here. The belfry crowned with a golden cockerel that can be seen in the town centre belongs to the oldest Protestant church in Zeeland (1612). A small museum, the Museum Het Bolwerk, is situated on the main square.
