This modest mountain village set in spectacular scenery is one of Norway's best-known destinations. Nestled at one end of Geirangerfjord, surrounded by high mountains and waterfalls cascading into the fjord, it has preserved its rustic atmosphere, including a small wooden church with an octagonal plan. Accessible by boat, the village has a waterside campsite, hotels and other accommodation, all at one with nature. The surrounding area offers numerous hiking opportunities.
