It was in this apartment that Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906), Norway's most famous playwright, spent the last 11 years of his life and wrote his last two works. The rooms have been left in their original state and can only be visited with a guide. In Oslo it is said that there are only three sources of sayings in Norwegian: the Bible, folklore and the works of Ibsen. Learning more about Ibsen is tantamount to gaining a better understanding of Norway.
