Seljord
The Essential
This picturesque little town lies at the eastern end of the lake of the same name, said to be the stomping ground of Selma, a local version of the Loch Ness Monster. A publicity stunt, or one more mystery in an area reputed to be popular with elves? You be the judge! The town is known for its pretty little church, dedicated to St Olaf (12C), its large agricultural fair and for hosting Norway's main country music festival.
