This small sleepy city to the east of the Vistula estuary, facing the lagoon, has no difficulty claiming the title of "Copernic's town". The astronomer did indeed spend the greater part of his life and carried out most of his research from 1509 to his death in 1543 at Frombork. It is also his final resting place, in the picturesque fortified cathedral that dominates the town. Don't miss the view over the city and sea from the top of the bell tower.
