Faro
The Essential
Interesting
Nonchalant Faro is the Algarve's main city and worth dedicating some time to, if only to wander about the narrow streets of its old town, which are deserted and quiet in the evening, or for the pleasure of breathing the sea air along the marina without the loud techno. On its coastal side, Faro meets the lovely Ria Formosa nature reserve. And in the bright and undulating landscape of the hinterland, the hills of the Serra do Caldeirão see arid maquis alternate with orchards.
