Located 18km from Amarante on the Porto road, Travanca has a 12C church, located in the bottom of a valley. Built out of granite, it used to be part of a Benedictine monastery. The historiated capitals that decorate the portals and the triumphal arch are extraordinary. On the left side of the church is a crenelated tower with machicolations and a very simply decorated portal. The old monastery and the church are now closed.
