Interesting
This picturesque town is built down the north slope of the Serra da Arrábica; it lies at the foot of a hill, at the top of which is an important castle that became the headquarters of the Order of Saint James in the 14C. The bishop of Évora, Dom Garcia Meneses, who plotted against the order, was imprisoned in a cell beneath the keep; he died there, probably poisoned.
