Polovragi Monastery

Interesting
In a landscape of forests and orchards at the heart of the Oltet gorge, this unmissable spot derives its name from a medicinal plant used by the Dacians. Beyond the carved wood doorway, the white church in the centre of the courtyard is a commission of Constantin Brâncoveanu, as are thewall paintings (workshop of Constantinos) including portraits of the founders among others. Head on thegrotto , one of Europe's largest. This huge cave in the limestone rock has been known since Dacian times.
