Baia Mare Art Museum
A chance to get acquainted with the Nagybánya School, active here at the start of the 20C under the aegis of Hungarian Simon Hollósy, a reaction against the academic art of the Munich School. Discover artists like János Thorma, Tibor Boromisza, Jeno Maticska and Valér Ferenczy who were inspired by French Impressionism and the new pictorial trends of the time. Interesting collection of icons: note those by 18C painter Radu Munteanu, who worked in the wood churches of the Apuseni and Maramures.
