Aguilar is a village spread out on a small hill, shaped like a white stain stretched across green vineyards. In the 13C, after the Reconquest, the Muslim village of Bulay was renamed Aguilar, to which de la frontera (on the border) was quickly added, because of its proximity to the border of the Kingdom of Grenada. This village's history is closely linked with the Fernández de Córdoba Family history. Members of this family were given the title of lords of Aguilar, in 1370.
