La Rábida lies a few kilometres from Palos de la Frontera, on the left bank of the Tinto. It was here, more precisely at the town's monastery, that Christopher Columbus came in the hope of support from the Franciscan monks in financing his expedition that aimed to find a sea route to the Indies. A look around the village, and in particular the monastery and its three caravel reconstructions, is therefore a good way to find out more about this voyage.
