Casares

Casares
The Essential
The houses in Casares, buried amid lush vegetation, appear to be hanging over the void, on a spur of the Sierra Crestellina. One of the last Moorish bastions in the Málaga mountains, the village is home to the birthplace of Blas Infante (1855-1936), the father of Andalusian nationalism. Its old quarter is a labyrinth of narrow streets lined with low houses. The 17C Iglesia de San Sebastián, with its elegant Baroque bell tower, stands on the Plaza de España.
