La Oliva
The Essential
Once the capital of the island of Fuerteventura, today La Oliva is a pretty village with white houses and is renowned for its goat's cheese. The Casa de los Coroneles (18C), the former residence of the island's governors, is a throwback to La Oliva's erstwhile status: with wooden balconies and two crenellated towers, it has been completely renovated. Not far away is the Casa del Capellán, a tiny and quite charming double-roofed house.
