Vic
The Essential
Recommended
Situated halfway between the sea and the Pyrenees, the former capital of the Iberian Ausetanos tribe is nowadays a thriving commercial and industrial centre. Vic has a magnificent old quarter whose narrow, cobbled lanes reveal a host of stately homes, a superb museum of medieval art and a Plaça Major which is one of the finest of Catalonia. The town is also famous for its wide-ranging culinary delicacies, especially its ham, which you can sample at the Saturday market.
