Pirineos Catalanes

Highly recommended
The Catalan cordillera is cut by deep, often isolated valleys (Arán, Ripagorce, Pallars, Alt Urgell, Ripollès, Garrotxa and Ampurdan). The region's seclusion encouraged the development of local art, visible in the churches of the Boí valley, the monastery of Sant Joan de les Abadesses and villages such as Beget. The region is however also renowned for its delicious regional cuisine, countless opportunities for leisure and sporting activities and magnificent walks in the Parque Nacional d'Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici.
