Pirineos Catalanes

Highly recommended
The Catalan Pyrenees form a barrier divided by deep, rather isolated transverse valleys (Arán, Ripagorça, Pallars, Alt Urgell, Ripollès, Garrotxa and Ampurdan). The region's seclusion fostered the development of a local art, visible in the Vall de Boí's churches, the monastery, Monestir de Sant Joan de les Abadesses, and villages such as Beget. The region is also renowned for its cuisine and the sporting activities it offers, such as hiking in one of the five nature parks.
