The Essential
Situated in the wide vine-covered Támega valley, Verín was already an important town in the Middle Ages. The area has several thermal springs renowned for the treatment of rheumatism and liver problems. But the town, which has a small historical centre with narrow cobbled streets, and houses with glass-paned galleries, is known most of all for its castle, the Castillo de Monterrei.
