Located just a few kilometres away from the coast and its salt marshes, this industrial and tourist centre, stretching across the vast Vinalopó plain, is the third most important town in the Valencia region. Despite its modern planning, it is still a fascinating place to visit because of its unique character and history. Surrounded by the biggest palm grove in Europe and the setting for one of the oldest "mystery plays", it is listed twice on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
