Vilafamès lies within a 14C surrounding wall with four gates. At the summit is the castle of Arab origin, with its fine round tower. It used to be the property of the Order of Montesa and commands fine views, especially at sunset. simple rock paintings were discovered beneath the castle and dated to the 2C BC; these are a designated World Heritage Site. Typical cobbled streets run through this charming village, where many artists have chosen to settle.
