In 1658, King Charles X Gustav ordered Reinhold Rademacher to install a forge and provide the kingdom with knives, needles, stirrups etc. It is thanks to this ancient tradition that the town has a reputation for high-quality cutlery, surgical instruments and stainless steel. Nowadays, six forges have been transformed into living museums, where demonstrations take place.
