Porrentruy
The Essential
Interesting
The small town of Porrentruy, rich in tourist appeal in the north of the Jura canton, was the residence of Basel's prince-bishops in the 16C. Nowadays its historic pedestrian centre rich in colourful facades and wrought-iron shop signs is most picturesque. Numerous museums chart the historic and geological past of this region, annexed during the French Revolution in 1793.
