Sierre

Sierre
The Essential
Claimed to be the sunniest town of Switzerland, Sierre (Siders), tucked away deep in the Rhone valley, could add a bunch of grapes to its coat of arms, because it is now one of the country's major winegrowing regions. For a time, it provided refuge to the Austrian poet, Rainer Maria Rilke, who appreciated the beauty of the countryside around Sierre and its central location between the Haut and Bas-Valais, at the crossroads of the German and French languages.
